The Toronto Blue Jays Experience
It has been quite strange to be a Blue Jays fan these past few seasons. The team seems to have been riding a rollercoaster since 2021, never quite reaching the top. Vlad Jr. and Marcus Semien led an explosive offence in 2021, setting records, but they were just one game away from making the playoffs. We eventually returned to October the following year, but in a game that still makes fans shudder, we blew an 8-1 lead to Seattle.
It wasn’t much better in 2023. While the pitching was excellent, the decision to pull José Berríos early in the Wild Card series left fans stunned, and the bats fell silent when it counted most. Everything fell apart by 2024. The Jays went from being a contender to one of baseball’s biggest disappointments due to injuries, slumps, and inconsistency.
Even though the team has recovered and secured another postseason berth in 2025, supporters are understandably wary. Although it’s thrilling to see them back in the hunt, there’s also apprehension. As a Jays fan these days, you can’t help but wonder if this year will be their breakthrough or just another heartbreak.
